In December, 2011 -
Origin Direct
carried out an installation within this beautiful
Victorian property on Dalston Road.
The
project came about due to the joining wall between
the front Lounge and the dining room at the rear of
the property being removed. The owners felt
that the front room was becoming an unused part of
the home. The removal of the adjoining wall
brought a huge amount of light into the room and has
provided them with a stunning open Lounge that is
over 9 meters in length.
The
specification from the client was that the overall
style was to be traditional and homely without being
too absorbent with the age of the building so a
natural oak from our Origin Hardwoods Multiply range
was selected.
Due to the
age of the property, we could not remove the 9" high
skirting boards for fear that the horsehair plaster
would fall off the walls so the decision was to
install a secondary skirting board around the
perimeter of the flooring. The splayed, 3"
high skirting board was knotted, primed and painted
in the workshop prior to being taken to site and
fitted in order to ease the amount of work for the
client following our completion.
The bay
window picture above shows how seamless the use of a
secondary skirt can look and it offers a much higher
quality of finish.
